Ist in 40 years. Republicans lost ground in Hawaii which has been generally liberal over the years. Democrats have control over the legislature and I believe all members of congress are Dems. Here is her first concern.

Lingle says she expects to work well with the Democrat controlled legislature. Today
she predicted her proposal to eliminate the excise tax on medical care will pass in
the coming legislative session.

Taxing medical care? Even Gray Davis hadn't thought of that yet.
