9/11 changed our government for the worse. IMO, the Gore/Bush election fiasco was not very important at the time. Their platforms were virtually identical, and their weakness prevented them from pursuing their more extreme agendas. 9/11 transformed Bush from a weak president to a strong one, and that left the country fully in the hands of the cruel, the selfish, the violent, the dumb, and the anti-democratic.
