Larry, I believe IBM basically kept Intel alive in the early 80's as INTC was getting out of DRAM, and that at one point they had an equity interest. Exxon bought Zilog, and supposedly the big problem was that Exxon crushed Zilog's entrepeneurial spirit (a la the recent Forbes tech stock love fest). Never heard anything about a feud between IBM and Exxon, which I believe you were mentioning. Part of MU's macro strategy is to diversify outside of DRAM, of course, but its going to be a while before(if) that can be done, imo.
