Well, unfortunately, you gave the FAL wiggle room by diverting from the outright lie. Whatever she meant by, 'You realize we've had this "debate" on and off for 5 years.' and then by, 'We have "posted about" drugs. But debated? Well, never, not even now.', it's a indisputable lie in words and in concept. Indisputable, absolute and final. The side issue of the quotes is usually meant to display a certain disingenuousness, along the lines of what 'is' is.
