Time to hear independent Repubs, Libertarians, and Demos start to mention the fact that the 16th Amendment was not legally ratified, until it got to be an emerging issue that resonated with an enraged citizenry as the economy nosedives. There would then have to be a Supreme Court judgement. It would be playing with dynamite, scaring the crap out of government bureaucrats everywhere... The media would be dragged kicking and screaming into such a story, trying to ignore it the whole time. It would fit Thomas Jefferson's quote: "When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty."
