Meanwhile states like MASS, WS, and MN where there are complaints about high taxes 24/7 but have a quality of life that can't be touched by places like AZ or CA or GA.
Quick thread poll. Who think that the overall quality of life in Mass., WS, and MN, is a lot better then the overall quality of life in AZ, CA, GA, AL, TX, and FL (the last three added because they have no state income tax)?
Also who thinks CA is a low tax state?
In any case I am talking more about federal tax cuts then state tax cuts. I actually voted for a local tax increase recently (but it was voted down by a large margin).
But state or federal the normal defense of the government against the electorate's desire for tax cuts is to threaten popular programs rather then cut staff and eliminate less popular programs and subsidies.
I guess you'll need to pay more attention.
I have paid a lot of attention. It is normally the conservatives pushing for tax cuts, and the liberals complaining about scaled back or eliminated government programs. I did complain about having to wait 4 hours in the DMV recently but mainly I complained that there where other better areas for the cutback and that the cut back should have been phased in rather then getting rid of a dozen DMV offices all at once.
BTW have you seen "Bowling for Columbine" yet?
No.
