Dear DMA: I am a Republican and generally a conservative BUT in the case of Healthcare I do feel SOMETHING must be done, probably related to single payor system. These health insurance companies SUCK. Clinton had ONE GOOD IDEA and that was to drop medicare down to age 55 with those age 55-65 paying the full premium (estimated about $400 a month). The theory was to provide affordable health insurance to early retirees, and at the same time beef up Medicare as people 55-65 GENERALLY are healthier then over 65, thus we would be sort of UNDERWRITING THE POOL. Republicans, shot it down as Insurance companies were against it. Really pisses me off as those SAME COMPANIES dont WANT to insure us yet they dont want us to get it elsewhere either. jdn
