"Can Fred Chan's chip decode all DVD titles, or just some, like his MPEG1 decoder? That's what you get when you buy his value added products in China."

Why do you have to smear ESST's product even if you own Cube stock or you are a Cube share holder?

To date, many millions VCD players based on ESST VCD decoders have been sold in China. Cube did played a trick in March, 1997 to encode the Deng Shiao Ping's memorial CD such that ESS VCD decoder had encountered anomaly. Since ESST's product are based on firmware, it simply adapted to whatever Cube did in the encoding process.

Now, ESS chip can decode DVD titles as well. But i am not sure ESS will sell MPEG-2 upgrade kits. You will have to ask ESST for it.
