JW, I'm sure there's lots of other tricks that were pulled which will never quite be revealed because they're hard to prove. I mean, how do you effectively argue whether the plant really needed to come down for maintenance at just the wrong time and prove it, if you're not part of the operation ? There was no lack of cluelessness on the part of the gov't either, but in fairness, they had to become energy experts from scratch in a hurry to stay on top of what was being done to them. The bleakest day was just before the price caps were put in place, when it looked like the only way out might be for Enron, Dynegy, and El Paso to take the money they helped siphon out and buy California's electrical grid and bankrupt utilities, and then set the rates too. That was before the Enron collapse and other shenanigans came to light. It would have been a perfect scam, but luckily things worked out otherwise. Anyway, I enjoy reading your posts, keep up the good work. Your post on the 25 golden reasons is really making the rounds.
