All interesting theories. What you played in the play you've written, btw, isn't "the other." But your thinking it is is illuminating, I admit. I'd love to talk about that sometime.
But for now, let's not change the subject from what you've acknowledged today (and before, you say; but I missed it before):
CH got off on the social opprobrium.
That admission of yours is what's new to me. We all already knew he got off on the sex and sadism.
In another post, you can reiterate the You know you wanted it baby, and she asked for it, and it's not his fault, lines that are yours and CH's lines; and of course deny that Poet suffered a PTSD relapse from it, and that it was very dark for her and Bill. Show how much you know (and care) about that later. For now, a simple question:
Since CH got what he wanted, according to you, including not only the sexual charge but the social opprobrium, how in heck is he in your mind a victim of a bunch of baaaad people, as opposed to being a beneficiary of a group of would-be knights errant and crusaders who helped him get off -- which, as you have said, is what he wanted and enjoyed? |
