DOHA, Nov 17 (Reuters) - State-run Qatar Petroleum said Sunday it signed an oil and gas exploration and production sharing agreement (EPSA) with Canada's Talisman Energy Inc. (Toronto:TLM.TO - News).

"Talisman will initially invest $30 million to conduct two-dimensional and three-dimensional seismic surveys and drill exploration wells to find oil and gas," Energy Minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah said after signing the agreement.

The 3,174-sq-km (1,226 sq mile) offshore block 10 is located southeast of the Gulf Arab state's Al Shaheen oilfield and east of North Field -- the world's largest single concentration of natural gas with proven reserves exceeding 900 trillion cubic feet.

Attiyah told reporters the agreement was part of a series of EPSAs that Qatar Petroleum had signed with several international oil companies in recent years to raise Qatar's oil production capacity to 1.05 million barrels per day.

Qatar, a member of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, currently has a production capacity of 854,000 barrels per day and an OPEC quota of 562,000 bpd
