>>That is what I have to do.<<

Hi guys - it's THAT time of year again.

We live too far from the old stomping grounds (Baton Rouge) to go home for Thanksgiving, so we do it here. Chris' brother always comes from Chicago for a week, and my mother (who lives in the area) will usually spend a night or two in the rec room. It's a family tradition to cook waay too much food, pig out, leave the food on the table and nosh all evening, and have friends over the next day (St. Ralph's day.) St. Ralph is the patron saint of leftovers.

Yesterday Nick (the amazingly literal-minded) wanted to know what we were doing for Thanksgiving, and I suggested McDonald's and he got all huffy. My bad.

The only thing I know for sure is that I always do the rolls last and they are never done in time for dinner, so this year I am doing the rolls in advance! I promise!

Costco has shallots, which I have always wanted to try but they are soooo expensive but were semi-reasonable at Costco. Last night I drizzled Costco olive oil on Costco baby carrots and Costco shallots, cut into fourths, sprinkled with salt and fresh lemon thyme from the garden, stirred until the veggies were coated and roasted at 350. The shallots were really yummy, sweeter and more flavorful than onions.
