Jacobs sold all of the shares on Nov. 14 for $35.76-$38.10 apiece, the Securities and Exchange Commission filing said.

Qualcomm shares were down 24 cents to $39.20 in late morning trading on Nasdaq.

He executed the sales for asset diversification, estate planning and for charity, he told analysts in a recent earnings conference call, and he could sell another 2 million shares in the future.

Jacobs is one of the company's top shareholders and said he has rarely sold Qualcomm stock since he founded the San Diego-based company 17 years ago. After selling the 2 million shares he held about 20 million of them, the SEC filing said.

Other Qualcomm insiders who sold shares on Nov. 14 included Chief Operating Officer Anthony Thornley, who unloaded 300,000 shares for $35.87-$37.89 each. He directly held 9,958 shares after the sales, his SEC filing said.
