To be fair, kholt in promoting the terms "posse" and "rabbid pack of hyenas," asserts a victim/prey in our midst; although possibly in a slightly different context. I've explained my use of the word, posse, before. To you, I think. I'm using it in the context of rock musicians--the people who hang around the stars and look out for them. There's no implication of victim or prey in that. It just refers to the folks who gathered around Poet and orchestrated the new thread, held her hand, etc. Hyena, OTOH, clearly is about prey. By the pack I was referring to the folks who have targeted X. Prey is not quite the same thing as victim. The two have some members in common but are different in concept.
