American Politicians

People in Canada have a lot of trouble understanding the problems that afflict other areas of Canada. Speaking about the softwood lumber dispute to people in Southern Ontario can be a fruitless task, in Quebec nobody cares about wheat farmers, and in most of Canada, the cod crisis passed unnoticed. This is not an attempt to dismiss your argument, just a preamble to inform non-Canadians that the issue you are discussing does fall into this category for many Canadians.
American politicians involved in the lumber dispute could well be considered "sleazeballs" by the Canadians with an interest, here our arguments diverge. I see no greater threat to peace, freedom and liberty in the world today than a

<<"bunch of goofballs thumping holy books">>.

I think that most of the people in the world have an interest in preventing these types of attacks. The horror and visibility of the World Trade Center attack overshadows a multitude of similar events (Oklahoma bombing, Air India bombing etc..). In my opinion preventing these attacks will require worldwide co-operation.

Canadian defense spending may well have to be directed to a super weapon that could hold the entire world hostage. In one fell swoop we could take over everywhere as the ultimate villains. This supremacy of evil would ensure a continued supply of low cost fruits and vegetables through the cold season from our subjects in the subjugated Dominion of America.
