First was the fact that the Toronto voter was so frightened by the prospect of separation that they favoured whatever leader seemed likely to be the most palatable to Quebec
Why is their opinion so important? There's a lot more to Canada than just Toronto. Toronto is in Ontario, not Quebec, so it would still be part of Canada if Quebec seceded. And a lot of Canadians seem more ready to say au revoir rather than put up with what it costs to keep them.

Have you guys thought about our solution to the secession problem? :-)
