First of all, I was amazed that they are using W-CDMA. I thought W-CDMA was not ready for prime time. Anyone have an explanation?

Second of all, I do not buy that 3% penetration of 1000 POPs is all that good, especially since most of that 3% were the initial testers and probably given the equipment for free. They say that "customers have been signing up for the service in droves." 30 paying customers does not meet my definition of "droves". Considering the market does not have other broadband options, and that they were testing it all summer (so you would think word of mouth would have gotten out), I think the results are tepid at best.

I wish SOMA all the best, but this news release looks more like Nokia inspired hot air than a meaningful indication of actual business success.
