I like it. Moats. But if you were referring back to FSTW, they have no moat. They are among some 200+ moatless CRM players trying to figure out how to fortify themselves against MSFT, though. It takes little capital to enter the CRM space, and it is getting easier and cheaper to develop Web-based applications, but it is not cheap or easy to compete effectively.
ET, OTOH, has built a pretty good little castle of capital, customers, products, systems and - yes - even brand. And though King Christos spent way to much on lavish decorations for his castle (not to mention travel to visit the Queen in London), parliament has locked the treasury and cut his royal stipend, and soon even the serfs will benefit. It would take lots of capital and time to cross the ET moat. However, the castle is currently on sale for a little over one times book. Some larger empire might decide to annex this little kingdom.
