Help! The Dog has a strange problem. Every now and then a little icon pops up on my system tray (on the far right side along with other "in the background" programs running). This thing looks like a DNA model, red and blue and rotating.

When I put the cursor on it, it reads "support.com protecting". Clicking on it does nothing.

When this thing is "running" it seems to do bad things. I start getting messages saying I'm low on virtural memory, and other messages, including Visual Runtime Errors. Also, when I try to "shut down" the computer I ususally have to use the power off button as the computer will not do a normal" shut down.

I have searched everywhere on my computer to find what and/or where this thing is, to no avail.

I'm running W2000 Pro on a Vaio laptop.

Anyone have any ideas what this "thing" is???? And how to kill the beast???

Thanks.
