Great news! Released by both companies: TYC Electronics and VLNC. Puts VLNC on TYC Electronics Telecom customers, in several countries where TYC Electronics is doing business. Application of Saphion battery to Telecom power backup systems (and the related revenue generation from "system design and sales" as Stephan called it in August 2001) is consistent with Stephan's stated marketing plan for the large format battery discussed last year: (1) automotive use and (2) telecom backup power. Both represent huge markets. "Prototypes for testing by TYC will be ready early next year". One would assume that prototypes for USABC testing is already in progress. Check out his CIBC presentation last year. Tyco was mentioned in August 2002 as one of several companies VLNC was working with, according to my conf call notes. I was not surprised by today's announcement. Ram
