LOL! It's been gutted by the Bush administration. Where are the past 20 years' presidential papers?

And that's after previous administrations have nibbled away at it.

You should really read, try google on "FOIA Bush" or read Judicial Watch.

The point is, everything is classified as "national security" or "privileged", even if it's just that Cheney met with Enron prior to the California energy rape. Every official wants the power of secrecy.

However, the information is ours, this is our government, they work for us. That's hard to remember when you're running around in limousines with cadres of assistants at your beck and call, spending billions, being wined and dined by lobbyists etc etc

There is no longer any check and balance, unless we have full unfettered realtime access to government records, with the only exception as mentioned.
