'Recently' has nothing whatsoever to do with the premise and thrust of the sell-side strategy I was advocating.

I'll make my point by simply making some slight adjustments to your post:

A "prudent selling strategy" during the last ~3 years could have easily resulted in selling countless biotechs with huge gains...while avoiding the unbelievable travesty of countless investors, and the VD portfolio, losing virtually their entire capitalization.

'Recently' is bubble psychology.

To paraphrase the commercial, 'Recently' costs us money. Big time.
