Dell Expands Services to Help Customers Move Off of UNIX; Dell Launches Fixed-Price Windows Assessment Services

ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2002--Dell (Nasdaq:DELL) today announced new professional services to help customers migrate from proprietary UNIX systems to standards-based servers.

Dell's Fast Track to Microsoft(R) Windows(R) service will help customers assess their needs and advise them of the best way to migrate to Windows.

In addition to server infrastructure, Dell's assessment services will help customers evaluate and plan for migration of their applications or databases, allowing customers to reduce infrastructure costs and make the most of their IT investment. Dell recently announced a similar service to help customers migrate from UNIX to Linux.

Dell assessment services for migration to Windows are available immediately. Fixed pricing starts at $40,000 for a custom application assessment, database assessment, Web application assessment or infrastructure assessment.

"Customers are turning to Dell for their UNIX migration projects because Dell helps them lower costs while maintaining their productivity, performance and availability," said Jeff Lynn, vice president of Dell Professional Services. "Dell's Fast Track to Windows and Linux services are designed to help customers save money and provide peace of mind with a migration strategy that is backed by Dell expertise and leadership in the enterprise."
