Pulse Has First 140 Watt SMT Planar Power Transformer for Telecom, Datacom and Industrial Applications

New Series Features the Only 140 Watt Catalog Planar Transformer in Today's Market
biz.yahoo.com
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2002-- Pulse, a Technitrol (NYSE:TNL) company, introduced a new series of 100 to 140 watt surface mount (SMT) planar transformers for high-density isolated DC-to-DC modules and discrete power supplies for use in telecom, datacom and industrial control applications.
The new series is designed to meet either operational or basic insulation, 1,500 volts DC isolation and is optimized for frequencies between 200-500 kHz. These transformers feature low resistance windings (less than 0.5 milliohms), excellent AC resistance performance and extremely low leakage inductance (less than 0.4 microhenries), while offering the highest power density available in today's market.

The first two transformers in the series are designed for use in active-clamp forward-converter topologies operating from a wide-range telecom input voltage of 36 to 75 volts and providing a regulated 100 watt (3.3-volt/30-amp) output (PA0369) or a 140 watt (12-volt/11.6-amp) output (PA0423).

Other versions are available for 5.0 volt/20-amp and 26 volt/4-amp outputs, as well as transformers for full-bridge, half-bridge and push-pull topologies. The transformer's SMT package is compatible with all contemporary pick-and-place processes.
