Steve, the number of tourists who go to London to visit the Queen or at least gawp at the redcoats, is enough to pay for all the royal family and a lot more besides. Imagine what a drab little place it would be without all that pomp and ceremony. Think of Vienna as a 'once was great' place which is now a backwater. Count the tourists. Britain should NOT let go of the royal family. The Queen brings in more spending power than North Sea oil [I guess]. Mqurice
