"Why don't you think about it for a while."

I don’t know what you mean. I said:

“It has been embarrassing to watch your response to his flatteries.”

You said:

“Feeling embarrassed for someone else is a very strange thing and says quite a bit about you.”

First I don’t feel embarrassed for other people and don’t know how that works. Embarrassment feels like a flushed face while witnessing disgraceful behavior or in coming to some recognition that I have done that, or am represented. In this case it would be in the witnessing.

It is embarrassing to watch someone participate in manipulation. For example: most people find it funny or get upset watching a woman flirt with a man to get something from him; likewise, when a man uses flattery with a woman as a strategy.

"I notice you do not comment on the obvious manipulation angle. "

What? You had already exposed the manipulative angle. But maybe I can add something as you were not totally clear. Feeling embarrassment is not manipulation. Mentioning it might be, as in this case. In this case the manipulation was in using an "I" statement to point out something about you. A definite nudge. It's the mentioning in context that carries a manipulative aspect, not the feeling.
