FARMINGDALE, N.J., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Hyperbaric Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Advanced Healthcare Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AVHC) today announces the publishing of a new topical hyperbaric oxygen study.

New Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen Study Published

A study, published this week in a leading medical journal, reports that treatments using AHT 's Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen Products facilitate wound healing and the full closure of pressure ulcers (bed sores) in patients at long term care facilities (nursing homes). The study was conducted by leading wound care researchers and specialists. The study, conducted over a four-week period, demonstrated a 34.4% decrease in the average size of Stage III and Stage IV ulcers by utilizing THBO Therapy. This is highly significant, as many of these wound ulcers can remain open for years. The study went on to show that by healing wounds with THBO Therapy, suffering was reduced and quality of life was improved.

Nursing Home Database Reveals Shocking Statistics

State and federal officials this week announced the creation of a national database designed to help senior citizens choose a quality nursing home. In creating this database they use a report card that examines ten quality indicators. One of the main indicators, and an area of great concern, is the percentage of patients treated for wound infections and bed sores. The database cited that some of the 17,000 facilities reported rates as high as 26% for patients suffering from bed sores. As this is a major concern of long-term facilities and a quality of life issue, it highlights the need for incorporating and utilizing THBO Therapy as part of the wound care protocol. The estimated annual cost associated with treating wounds of this type exceeds $7 billion dollars.
