Iomega<IOM.N> says faces consumer class action
ROY, Utah, July 24 (Reuter) - Iomega Corp said it confirmed
that it was served on July 21 with a complaint brought on behalf
of a class of consumers.
The suit was filed in the Delaware Court of Chancery on July
16 and alleges violations of the Magnuson-Moss Consumer Products
Warranties Act and the Delaware Consumer Fraud Act, the company
said.
The claimed violations were based on alleged breaches of
Iomega's Zip, Jaz and Ditto product warranties and on the
company's technical support charges and practices, a news
release issued by Iomega said.
The complaint seeks injunctive relief, restitution for
amounts paid by consumers for certain calls to Iomega's
technical support line and reasonable legal fees, the release
said.
Iomega said it is in the process of investigating and
evaluating the claims stated in the complaint.
