Sorry but that is obviously incorrect:

>>And Turkey is openly accepting that if there is an invasion of Iraw, Turkey will provide bases for US and and allied troops to operate out of.

This is very wrong. I don't know where you get this impression but I have seen no such statement in any of the publications I follow from the region in several languages. In fact, both the Ecevit government that got toppled in the November elections and the recent moderate-Islamist government have repeatedly said that they will NOT provide the bases to the US for invading Iraq unless they see UN backing.

>>Turkey is allied with Saddam's mortal enemy, the US. And Saddam has clearly shown over many years how he deals with mortal enemies, and with their friends.

But he has not engaged in ANY hostility whatsoever towards Turkey, now has he? US used Turkish bases a decade ago in the Gulf War and Saddam sent no bombs in direction of Turkey. Since then, US jets that patrol the no-fly zone took off from Turkish soil and still no hostility from Saddam.

I wonder why. Could it be that Saddam is not the bloodthirsty psycho that Bush would have us believe? Or is he maybe afraid of Turkey? I don't know. All that is clear is that Turkey is not afraid of Saddam and frankly I do not see why they should be, especially since they are not supporting the US this time without a UN resolution.
