my mistake was underestimating Intel's sales growth. We are truly in uncharted territory here. How much will Intel's price declines boost sales. Who knows? I believe worldwide PC penetration is under 5%. Looking back from 2010, could the PC be the next telephone (in various iterations yet to be determined) with 50% or even 80% household penetration, on a global basis. Who knows?

Last time I heard the figure mentioned, which was in the last 9 months, there was still an installed base of over 50 million 486 and earlier model computers still waiting to be upgraded. I have a feeling that many of these owners will finally break through the buying resistance to purchase a new computer in the next 12 months. I am just one of them.
