The observation was rhetorical. It seems to me Sharpton gets more face time that everybody else combined. It was to make the point that you donot see the hundreds of thousands of good clergy in America.

The implied argument here is fallacious. As Dave has accurately said, Sharpton and Jackson are not real clergymen, being closely bound to no real church or religion. They are public rabblerousers who appeal to pseudo religion to ingratiate themselves to a segment of the black community. Virtually nothing they do is clearly bound to religion because they themselves are not clearly bound to religion. That is why no good clerics are called onto the floor in response to them. It just would make no sense at all to call a serious black cleric to respond to everything Jackson and Sharpton say when that black cleric's life has no real correspondence to Jackson's and Sharpton's.

On the other hand when people closely bound to a certain religion, like some catholic priests, notoriously assault innocent people, then the "good" catholics and clerics who are also closely bound to their religion come out in droves to condemn it, fashion rules to stop it or at least distance it from their churches. That is as it should be.

We do not see this sort of response from "good" islamic clerics anywhere in the entire world. It is grounds for holding "good" islamics with skepticism.
