I believe that you have not seen misery, poverty, lack of hope and having their land taken from them as they have. These are desperate people who have nothing left to lose.

You're really wrong about this. The problem isn't their desperation, it is in fact their culture -- one of violence and killing.

There are populations on earth who are at least as desperate yet don't resort to the arbitrary killing of innocent children. This is inhuman behavior, and you can't rationalize it, no matter how liberal you are.
