Well well well Northforce,

Two months after your patent litigation postings look what happens (from Briefing.com)

Research In Motion: decision expected today on crucial patents - Forbes (RIMM) 15.18 +0.65: Forbes reports that a Virginia jury will likely decide damages today in a lawsuit between patent house NTP and RIMM; earlier this month a U.S. District judge ruled that RIMM infringed 4 patents held by NTP regarding wireless email connectivity used by RIMM's Blackberry product; NTP is asking for $28.9 mln in damages, and according to their lawyer, NTP plans to "pursue an injunction that would prevent RIMM from continuing to sell Blackberrys. That's RIMM's nightmare."

AND THE RESULTS:

Research In Motion ordered to pay $23.1 mln in patent dispute (RIMM) 15.18 halted: -- Update -- We are hearing from traders citing Bloomberg that RIMM was ordered to pay $23.1 mln in damages for using NTP's patented technology. (Note that Forbes said NTP had asked for $28.9 mln, so the fine is less than expected, but the real wild card is whether NTP will pursue an injunction that would prevent RIMM from continuing to sell Blackberrys... see 11:16 comment.)

Should be interesting to see how this thing opens up.

SX.
