New York Stock Exchange Issues Monthly Short Interest Report
NEW YORK, Nov. 21, 2002 - The New York Stock Exchange today reported short interest as of the close of business on the settlement date of November 15, 2002, reflecting transactions through November 12, 2002.
Based on information received from members and member organizations, short interest decreased to 8,010,569,082 shares on November 15, 2002 from 8,204,136,783 shares on October 15, 2002.
The short interest on November 15, 2002 was equal to 2.3 percent of the total shares on the Exchange.
The short interest in warrants as of November 15, 2002 amounted to 93,741 warrants, compared with 128,120 warrants on October 15, 2002.
As of November 15, 2002, 3,566 stocks and 7 warrants were available for trading on the Exchange. Of these, 2,839 issues had either a short position of 5,000 shares or a change of shares since the last monthly report. A list of these issues, showing their current short positions and average daily volume between the trade dates, covered by this report, is attached.
