After the close yesterday:

CARLSBAD, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Thirty StarWire(TM) satellite
terminals from ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq: VSAT) will be deployed in a voice and data
network for an international customer. Aurora(TM) subscriber terminals will
provide between 40 and 70 voice channels, plus data, at each network site.
Also included is a StarWire Network Control System that sets up communication
channels on-demand, and configures and manages network equipment. The
contract for this network is valued at $1 million.
At the same time, ViaSat announced that its customer HCL Comnet, one of
the largest communication service providers in India, is initiating new
satellite communication services with StarWire networks for multinational
customers such as Kodak Bombay and MICO Bangalore in India. The network will
provide voice, fax, and data communications to HCL customers. HCL has already
installed a StarWire Network Control System in New Delhi to manage the
network. All of the network equipment is scheduled for delivery this month.
These networks use StarWire's advanced call routing, and built-in
telephony switching capabilities. Each call or data transmission is
dynamically set up with only the amount of bandwidth and power required. In
the 30-node network, the StarWire terminals will also digitally encrypt all
transmissions for information security. StarWire is ViaSat's family of Demand
Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) satellite networking equipment for corporate
communications, Internet access, infrastructure, and rural telephony.
"These opportunities expand ViaSat's regional international market
coverage, building on the advanced networking and routing features that
StarWire offers," said Richard Segil, vice president and general manager of
the StarWire products group.
ViaSat Inc. designs, produces, and markets advanced digital satellite
telecommunications and wireless signal processing equipment for government and
commercial markets. Other products include information security devices,
tactical communication radios, and communication simulators. ViaSat is an
executive member of the IP Multicast Initiative and a founding member of the
Global VSAT Form. Corporate headquarters are located in Carlsbad, California
in northern San Diego County, with branch offices located in Boston, MA, and
Melbourne, FL.
