Re: When I said money, I meant oil money. I also left out the military-industrial complex, which wants the war as an excuse to increase the amount of money it steals from the American public, as well as a chance to test out its weapons in combat.

I disagree. The only, hidden purpose of the warmongering against Iraq is RELIGIOUS fanaticism --Judeo-Christian fanaticism, that is. Israel wants the US to wage war on Iraq on her behalf because if nothing is done to choke Iraq's military buildup now, then in two years from now, Israel's ability to keep Jerusalem and deny the Palestinians a state of their own will be irredeemably challenged by the Iraqi-Iranian axis. Hence the hype over Iraq's WMD --as a threat to the US-- and the "oil scramble" are mere DECOYS. There're already too many oil producing countries chasing too few gas-guzzler markets. Besides, the US already is Iraq's oil importer #1 (source: Newsweek).

As for the US military-industrial complex, well, what have the Pentagon and its industrial contractors (Boeing, Lucent, Raytheon, GE, General Dynamics, etc) to gain out of a "war against terrorism"?? NOTHING... N-O-T-H-I-N-G!! The military-industrial complex wants more aircraft carriers, more stealth fighters, more satellites, more submarines, more humvees, more troop carriers, etc. Problem is, that's just not the paraphernalia useful in fighting Al-Qaeda... For that matter, in the wake of 911, the main focus of the Bush administration has been HOMELAND security: billions of dollars have been allocated to domestic counterintelligence (biometric devices, profiling, computerized intelligence gathering,...) Bottomline: the Pentagon lobbyists will have to compete with yet another law enforcement agency when it comes to the so-called House/Senate appropriations committees...
