Yes, that's the question. But who knows the answer? Sure seems like the whole world is going into an economic decline --- we are all going to Hell in a hand-basket.

But what can reverse the trend? More consumerism? More buy, waste and throw away? A war in Iraq? Or elsewhere? The unfortunate truth is that nothing and no-one is needed. Everything is in abundance --- especially people. The whole grand exercise is just a nonsense game of futility. The Titanic is sinking and there are too few lifeboats. IMO, if people are going to survive then it's each man for himself. Of course, the bloody awful governments we all have don't make it any easier for anyone.
