'third-world cesspool' - well that about sums up the attitude, doesn't it .... you know, there's a place south of here where when folks say to me, estadounidenses are arrogant thieving slaver pricks and you can't trust 'em, i say in response no no, there are among them men of honour and principle, you can talk to some, reason with a few even, and in special but not uncommon cases deal with selected individuals .... but then, i see something like this, and i wonder hey, maybe i should do a rethink on that

Three weeks in '41 didn't produce much ... there was little direct help from the US in Europe until their 8th air force got rolling, mid-'43 or so ..... which was [coincidentally?] roughly the time the british treasury was cleaned of anything resembling treasure
