GF: I'm blinded by those colors on your chart. Literally. Are you the guy who fills in the colors for The Simpsons. Astounding, really. As for how long you get before a flattening of the VIX gives you the "head for the hills" signal, I remember doing some (admittedly casual) checking over the past couple of years and felt (feelings, nothing more than feelings . . . ) it was a 4-5 trading day period. It could be longer. I would go back, data mine, backtest, and recalibrate except I'm temporarily (or maybe permanently) blinded by Gottfried's chart.
