My use of quotes around "diversity" was not to question the concept. I agree that immigration can provide a useful leaven for the society. You want to bring in guys who will work hard, obey the law and pay lots of taxes, hell, bring 'em on. Otherwise I'd never have had the chance to learn to love schwarma. My objection to "diversity" as referred to e.g. by Jane Stewart in her speech in Toronto earlier this week is that is somehow the new official religion, somehow a sacred cow, triumphing all other considerations. That I don't buy. Nobody asked me or anyone else I know if Canada should suddenly have a national church.
