Samsung's Q3 sales flat, expects growth in Q4

SEOUL--Citing a surge in the memory markets, South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. posted sales of $8.2 billion (9.92 trillion won) for the third quarter of 2002, up 37% from the like period a year ago, but flat from the previous period, according to a report from the Dow Jones News Service.

The electronics giant also reported a net of $1.4 billion (1.73 trillion won), a fourfold jump from the like period a year ago, but flat from the previous quarter, according to the report.

In the fourth quarter, Samsung's revenue is expected to hit $8.25 billion (10 trillion won). For the year, it is expected to report a profit of $6.1 billion (7.4 trillion won) on sales of $33 billion (40 trillion won).
