Saudis for what it is worth take their responsibilities seriously when it comes to world oil... imo.

Outside of the 70's when they learned quickly how economics and high oil can cripple them they have worked to maintain a level cost in the barrel of oil... Many of the swings in the barrel of oil is speculation on the open market ,, potential war,,, refinery emergency shut downs... cold snap... hot weather... It is truly quite a balancing act that the industry performs to keep us going.

ps and of course opec cheating...
