This morning I was trying to explain the movie to Ben - and it seemed simplest to remind him of The Map - the one after the 2000 election, with the Red Zone and the Blue Zone. My explanation is that the movie is an examination of the values of the Red Zone as seen through the eyes of people who live in the Blue Zone.

If you live in the Blue Zone, apparently, people carrying assault rifles while dressed in camouflage are freaky, in and of themselves.

If you live in the Blue Zone, an argument that Americans kill each other with guns because we don't have nationalized health care makes sense.

On the other hand, I am a life long resident of both the Red Zone and the Blue Zone -- I have dual citizenship -- and even I found the interview with Terry Nichols' brother to be freakish in the extreme.

Marilyn Manson was the soul of reason compared to Terry Nichols' brother.
