As opposed to American support for the original Jihad business in Afghanistan, where Bin Laden "grew up", so to speak? You can talk about whatever you want, of course, and as long as you stay mostly in line with Perle and Co., nobody's going to call you a traitor or anything. Watch out if you cross that line, though.
