My visceral reaction to the notion of a voting lottery was sheer horror. But I must say it's a novel idea and novel ideas always get my attention. My horror may not have been any greater that YYB's was at my declining to vote this year. There are lots of different perspectives on voting.

From a partisan perspective, I would imagine a lottery would bring out more of the sorts of folks who buy lottery tickets. I would imagine that would increase the number of Democratic voters more than Republican voters, but I could be way off on that.
