Oh, yes, I definitely get it.

Any trial lawyer gets it big time. And I think it's a lot more than 70%. Juries are very good at deciding whether people are telling the truth or not based on non-verbal clues. That's why appellate courts are required to defer to the finder of fact in decisions about witness credibility. The appellate court has the complete transcript -- every word the person spoke. But none of the nonverbal clues. So they are simply not ALLOWED to overrule the finding of the person who both heard the words AND saw the behavior.

A clear showing that the the legal system understands that truth lies not in the words but in the combination of words and nonverbal clues.
