Information Transparency
As this community grows older it ages like any organic community. I often wander through the dusty unused corners of SI and read old threads, follow old profiles, check out old stories and get a sense of how this community originated, we are one of the web's true countries. SI has developed a flavour that is like few other places in cyberspace, even today the grain of SI is extremely fine.
The fine grain is the result of the continuous change that occurs in the members of the community, this continuous change is a function of longevity. We get to know each other better and better as time goes by, we change, you could say we are just like real people. At some point the continuous nature of this community became obvious causing many structures to be abandoned, their creators deeming them unmaintainable. Since then many casual structures have been created and abandoned, we have a landscape littered with digital debris. This digital accretion adds form, giving view to the underlying information, us.
Lists of dreams are not like lists of things to do, just ask Rocks (my wife), she gives me lists that I dream about getting done. This is very similar to your dream list when I think about it, some of the things on my lists should obviously be done, just as some of the things on your list should happen. |
