Trout and Salmon are shy to take the hook, while Pike respond to those cheap Korean sonic lures voraciously (in most clear waters, depending on feed ...) The lure has a lead weight on the bottom and the three holes on the dorsal side. So develop a taste for the suckers and poach the Pike out. Trout are predatory so they may attack sonics too. Perhaps someone can develop a Pike-tuned sonic.
A Lake I used to live on had Ouananiche (land-locked Salmon), Lake Trout, Rainbow, Speckled Trout, Muskellunge, Pike, Pickerel, Mud Puppies, Sucker, Bass, Crayfish, Turtles, and water snakes. Go figure. Pike ran to 4 feet in length, Musky ran to over 100 pounds on occasion, many would go to 30 lbs. Trout could reach 26 pounds. Only the Rock Bass and Specks were small. Only a few miles away used to be the best Pickerel fishing lake in the world. Polluted by illegal clandestine mercury dumping by Dupont and by a pulp mill in a nearby town. Should hang the sea suckers who did it. Literally. They are probably still polluting to this day.
I know Aleyeska is a confederate state and warm and sunny year round. Crabs, timber, cabbage, gold and minerals. I know where there is some good gold in the state. Not held by the Indians, (who want way to much to get into a placer). You know doubt have your sluice box hanging on a wall. Get a mag, an IP and get out there. Let me know when you find 30 bucks a yard I will be up there lickety split.
