Canada is a well known haven
No question. It was the terminus of the Underground Railroad prior to the US Civil War.

It took in and sheltered many American draft resistors during the Vietnam War.

The same can also be said of the US, though. WE have taken in 100s of thousands of refugees from Cuba. Just one example.

Canadians are the 2nd largest group of illegal aliens in the US. Mexicans are #1.
(Not surprising; they are our only neighbors and Mexico's population is larger.)

Canadians want peace,
Americans want peace as well but they do not value peace as much as Canadians.

OK. I'll accept that. What you ignore, though, is that the US inherited the leadership of what was called the "Free World" after WW2. You did not. That brings difficulties and responsibilities with it.

It's easy to sit in the back seat and criticize the driver. Real easy. It's NOT so easy to sit up front and make the necessary and painful decisions.

this includes not being disturbed by America which has some rather loud parties.
What are you referring to here?
And you have no hope of not being "disturbed" by us; you are our neighbor. You effect us; we effect you. Like it or not.
We have kept the peace between our 2 nations. We have the longest undefended border in the world. Those things will hopefully continue indefinitely.

inciting hatred is illegal in Canada. Americans, who enshrine the right of free speech have no such laws, in spite of this journalists rank Canada far ahead of the United States in freedom of the press.
Then those journalists are nuts. Or prejudiced. Prejudice against you goes with being a world leader.

I'm not that familiar with Canada's press and free speech laws. But let's take Britain and the Official Secrets Act as an example: Had the US had that law, the Watergate scandal would never have seen the light of day.

Canadians remember the FLQ all too well.
FLQ?
