The Jews put themselves there. Some, unlike your ancestors, even came on foot all the way from Russia, or Spain.
And those that came by boat had to sneak in, again unlike your ancestors, because the UK was putting them in camps or back to Auschwitz: Exodus.
And yes there were Jewish terrorists. Here: even my parents who had organised the blowing of the Exodus when it was waiting in Sete or Port Vendres (I don't remember, I was in my mom's womb, above the bomb) so that the Jewish load would not be deported back to the SS camps.
But it got arranged. I'd say the US or the French or both convinced the UK to let go that one.
And of course the money was coming from US gov and US Jews.
